About Naomi: a lifelong love for animals
Hello! I'm Naomi, a 26-year-old, born and raised in Swinnow, Bramley, with a profound passion for all animals. My love for creatures great and small started early; at just five years old, I was already protecting garden snails! Throughout my life, I've had the pleasure of owning a variety of pets, including rats, hamsters, gerbils, and, of course, dogs. My experience extends beyond pet ownership, having worked on a farm, in a reptile store, and even at a veterinary practice. I furthered my knowledge by studying animal behaviour and zoology at the University of Aberystwyth. While I adore many breeds, my absolute favourite to groom is a schnauzer, but my heart truly belongs to the Chinese crested Powderpuff!
The story of The Barkside Grooms: inspired by furry friends
You might have guessed from the name, but yes, I'm a big nerd with a deep love for Lord of the Rings and Star Wars! While I've always loved dogs, I didn't own one until I was 19. That's when Torin, the adorable face of my business and the inspiration for our logo, came into my life. I genuinely enjoyed grooming Torin and would often create Instagram photos for his own account. The real turning point came with my second dog, Kiedas, a long-haired collie x GSD. His beautiful, flowing coat was the catalyst that truly got me into dog grooming, transforming a hobby into my passion and profession.

What sets The Barkside Grooms apart, and why do customers continually bring their dogs to us? Well, apparently, I'm a very happy and joyful person, but I also have a unique ability to match the vibe of every dog! If your furry friend is old and a bit grumpy, I become calm and gentle, ensuring they feel comfortable and secure. If they're hyper and want to play, then I'm right there, jumping about with them, making grooming a fun and positive experience. It's this adaptable, empathetic approach that truly makes each grooming session special and stress-free for your beloved pet.
